Hello, young researchers!
Today's purpose of the blog is to become acclimated with the features that are (and will be) available. Use this blog as a valuable tool when working on your research assignment when I am not around to question.
This blog will also be set up like the class agenda; you will be presented with a list of tasks, due dates, and a manner in which to submit each task. So, here goes...
Today's Tasks
1- Take five or so minutes to register to the site. You must have a Gmail account to use/ post on this site. So, after you get registered, take a spin through the online resources in the tabs to the left.
-> By the end of the class today, you need to be a registered user of this site.
-> By the end of the class today, you will need to have posted an additional resource (on the Topic-Specific Research Site page) concerning key word searches in conjunction to your direction on the research project.
2- Visit the school databases (located in the Media Center portion of our school website; the log in information is provided). Visit Renaissance Issues; they have just added a portion on balanced calendar/ year-round school. Find one article that could be of use to you.
->Begin filling out a source sheet for this source. This source sheet will be checked tomorrow.
So, not so bad for a day's work, eh? Job well done. Log on by Wednesday to get your next set of tasks.

ReplyDeleteI think that this is a good website to use when reasearch for year round school from a student/teen's position, trying to convince other students that we should start a balanced calander, because it is a student written article that talks to other students explaining why year round school is better. It also adress' the opposing sides point of view, and argues with it, and it also talks about the breaks and other benefits. I highly recomend this article when doing research on a students opinion to promote year round shool.

ReplyDeleteThis website is very useful for one looking for information about a traditional and a balanced calendar. It is helpful from the stakeholder position of a student against a balanced calendar. The website shows the differences that a balanced calendar has pros and cons. By seeing both sides and the reason it should be opposed makes it easy to understand why it should be. This website is highly recommendable to anyone looking for information on the balanced calendar of year round schooling.
