Make Up from Monday
Monday I asked you to read an article "Better Search Skills" and complete a 3.8 paragraph/ prompt. Here is some feedback that will help you complete this correctly this time. Only use third person point of view; this isn't a diary entry or a cooking t.v. show. Since you are referencing the article in your paragraph, you need to use in-text citation; use the just the author's last name after quotes or paraphrased information due to the lack of page numbers. Click on the link below for the article. Write your 3.8 in the comment box below and submit. If you don't finish with this today, try to get it to me over spring break or come in early on our first day back.

Topic-Specific Research Sites
This is where you will be posting additional topic specific sites that may help other students in their pursuit of information. Please include a 1x5 blurb of your post (source, credibility, content, etc.).
Resources for MLA
These are websites that will assist you with maintaining a MLA format throughout your research efforts. I will be adding to this page as we progress through the unit.
Purdue OWL: This site also offers additional assistance in terms of writing, grammar/ language, and research.
KnightCite: This is a citation generator that may help when you are having a hard time formatting citations and in-text citation. It is also a great way to evaluate sources.
Style Book: This site includes the MLA formulas of most commonly used sources.

Class Documents
This page will serve as a warehouse for the documents you receive in class. Just think of this as back up in case you lost the original, need another copy due to too much information, or you just plum lost the the first (or second) copy I gave you. (I forgive you in advance.)

Hello, young researchers!
Today's purpose of the blog is to become acclimated with the features that are (and will be) available. Use this blog as a valuable tool when working on your research assignment when I am not around to question.
This blog will also be set up like the class agenda; you will be presented with a list of tasks, due dates, and a manner in which to submit each task. So, here goes...
Today's Tasks
1- Take five or so minutes to register to the site. You must have a Gmail account to use/ post on this site. So, after you get registered, take a spin through the online resources in the tabs to the left.
-> By the end of the class today, you need to be a registered user of this site.
-> By the end of the class today, you will need to have posted an additional resource (on the Topic-Specific Research Site page) concerning key word searches in conjunction to your direction on the research project.
2- Visit the school databases (located in the Media Center portion of our school website; the log in information is provided). Visit Renaissance Issues; they have just added a portion on balanced calendar/ year-round school. Find one article that could be of use to you.
->Begin filling out a source sheet for this source. This source sheet will be checked tomorrow.
So, not so bad for a day's work, eh? Job well done. Log on by Wednesday to get your next set of tasks.
